Referring to this checklist when going to play tennis will help you feel prepared and safe.

Checking the weather:
- Rain: Check the precipitation forecast before making plans to play tennis. Although no rain is favorable, light rains for a short amount of time should not cause major disruptions during the game. If major rainfall or thunderstorms are forecasted, then you should cancel or reschedule the plan to play tennis.
- Wind: Checking the wind speed before heading out to play tennis will make sure that your game is not disrupted. If the wind speed is higher than 20 miles per hour, it is suggested to not go play outside.
- Temperature: Looking at the temperature outside will determine if it is too cold or too hot to play tennis outdoors. Temperatures less than 5 degrees celsius and more than 35 degrees celsius is not ideal to play. You can be at risk for hypothermia, cold shock, heatstroke, headache, dizziness, fatigue, and other manifestations.

Bringing the necessary gear
- Sunscreen: For protection against sunburns and other sun damage
- Water: To avoid dehydration during games
- Jacket: If it is chilly outside due to low temperature or high winds, carrying warm clothes will ensure that you are safe from getting frostbite.
- Extra racket: When too hot, the strings on the racket will expand or when too windy, there is a chance the strings might break. Therefore, having an extra racket will ensure that you can play tennis for longer periods of time with minimal difficulty.
- Other appropriate equipment such as rackets and tennis balls.
