Unlike what you might believe, it is possible to play beach volleyball in the rain. For those living in Vancouver, you are probably used to some light rain; don't let a little drizzle ruin your beach volleyball day! Some players even enjoy playing in the rain more as the ground is not as hot and light rain can have a refreshing cooling effect. However, with rain there comes several issue that players may face. Rain affects play as the ball can get wet and become slippery/make it hard to pass and spike.

There are also hazards such as rocky sand, as light rain can cause wet sand to compress and reveal more rocks. These rocks can scrape players feet and potentially lead to bleeding. Additionally, rain can make the ground very muddy or slippery. This can lead to players slipping while running around and jumping, which can lead to head injuries or other bodily harm. Playing beach volleyball in the rain can have many benefits, but be careful as it can also be dangerous!
