When snow falls on a beach, it can actually become a completely different sport! Snow volleyball is another form of volleyball, but in many ways it is similar to beach volleyball as it has mostly the same rules and format (fun fact: snow volleyball was played at the Winter Olympics in 2018, although not officially).

When playing volleyball on snow, it can be very dangerous. The main concern is the fact that snow/ice can be very slippery, which can lead to falls and injuries due to the dynamic nature of volleyball. Snow can also hide rocks or objects underneath it, which can be a hazard when diving or jumping. Additionally, the cold can greatly affect play and players need to dress appropriately in order to stay warm. Proper protective shoes and clothing are needed to ensure that accidents are minimized when playing snow volleyball.
